Hi Everyone! My name is Rachel Maler, my students call me Miss Maler, and I graduated from Indiana University in 2019 with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Spanish. I decided to study education to become a pre-k teacher because while I was in highschool, I taught dance and gymnastics to pre-k aged kids, and through that I found my passion to teach! I absolutely love working with a group of kids of a long period of time and seeing the improvements they make and how much they grow over a year. I believe that educating children correctly at a young age can make or break their outlook on school for the rest of their educational career, and can also positively influence their behavior in the classroom. Currently, I work at Springfield Academy, teaching a wonderful group of pre-k students! Springfield Academy is an excellent school that is highly advanced at incorporating technology into the classrooms to enhance the students' education. In my classroom, each child has an ipad to use, which benefits their education in many ways, and also keeps parents updated with their child's progress in the classroom. The educational apps we use help the children review and practice materials after I teach it to them in the classroom. For example, we use the abcya! app to practice our numbers, letters, and coloring. I like this app because it has educational games that are fun and engaging for the students, and helps the students enjoy the material they are learning.
